Ideals that have never abandoned me.
My father once once sat me down and told me "Ennoble yourself so those around you may notice their own nobility." It only happened one time and it was when I was in the midst of one of the lowest points of my life. I had lost everything at that point and was resigned to resort to live with him again because of my inability to make anything of myself..... Application:
This is the part of my life I call: "Applied Sciences." After more than half a year of research and theoretical study, It's finally time to apply what I've learned through rigorous testing. Restructuring was planned for the 1st quarter of this year and so far things are on schedule. End of April seems ideal for these changes to be implemented so I'm very excited to see them finally come into their own. The philosophy remains the same, as I will continue to hold to the ideal of quality over quantity, but the studio will take a new direction in terms marketability. The ultimate goal is to create a viable means of catapaulting careers into the field of modeling and advertising, so as I've been saying before, 2009 is going to be a very interesting year for Idolatry Studios. With the ideas that exists in the works and also their chosen method of implementation, I believe that the possibilites are endless. Also, a new and carefully considered "umbrella" department is to be created this year under a name that will encomapass the core ideals of the studio. This will largely be the advertising and marketing side of Idolatry Studios which in turn will be considered it's "parent" company. I.D.S will be incorporated into this department but will still maintain it's seperate identity as a photography producing entity. It's time to get legitimate.  Californian Capitalism: You have two cows. They are annoyingly cheerful because "Happy cows come from California." Oh my god! I was DYING of laughter when I heard this today! I haven't heard that slogan since before I left California. Goddamned dairy industry with their propaganda like "It's the cheese". New LJ and new pics
I am making a transition. I will not be posting new photos on this journal anymore. Instead, I will be using the newly made Idolatry Studios LJ while we gradually prepare for Idolatrystudios.com's launch in the near future. New photo concept and spring/summer 2008 (Website)
I'm not even kidding, I just NOW came up with 4 new concepts which I'll be incorporating into my next few shoots. It's finally warming up outside so now it's time to put all the knowledge I've acquired this winter to the test. I'm going to live up to my own expectations (Which are astronomical)I can already feel it. These next few concepts, I dedicate (and owe) to a very lovely and talented woman who shall remain nameless until the product has finalized. It was she who inspired me through her visual prowess and expertise. (Initals: K.M.) I've been wanting to do something along these lines ever since I still lived in California with my buddy Joe. So needless to say, It's been on the backburner for QUITE some time. Of course, I won't post them right away. I may save those for the opening feature of our new website (www.idolatrystudios.com) which will be launching in the near future. I'm finishing up one of our latest concepts that was held up from this winter due to things like life throwing curveballs at us. (Again, and for the same REASON as last time. Tech Shots (closeups)
Just a few examples of a recent technical shoot. I guess you can call it "technical" because the primary reason for shooting was to compare different types of flash power according to different F-stop readings without use of a light meter. Anime Wasabi Pics!
HI EVERYONE! I'm finally getting a chance to post these pics in between shoots and the ol' day-job. Aw man, you would not believe how incredibly busy I've been as of late with shoots. In all the hustle and bustle, I still managed to get some really cool shots at Anime Wasabi this past weekend (Oh, and Laura V/Jessi...How dare you guys get too sick to go...J/K, Hope you're feeling better you two?) Jake and Moogie both sported their "pokeemans", Tom showed off his awesome sword, chatted with Eurobeat King and took turns taking photos, Laura met up with H-chan, drank waaaay too much, stayed up way too late, was bombarded with photography questions from VERY random people, saw deb play the piano for us, missed the hell out of my bud Kham, (Stupid Kham, why didn't ya go?) Jake/Tom's friend (whose name escapes me for the moment) bought a round of drinks, Took lots of photos, saw Bev and Christine and took pics, (see below)got lots of curious stares due to the diffuser on my flash, someone said I looked "important" and only Jake heard it (LOLOLOL), and had LOT'S of fun. Lots-O-Fun!! Oh and did I mention that drinking was involved? LOL ENJOY!!!!!!  BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!!! ( HUGE POST! Simple Girl
This is just one of the photos taken in the last week. I have so much to say about it but no time to say it. (I'm at work) The photo set took it's inspiration from french lingerie advertisments. The key to achieving this photo was taking the shot while Laura was not aware that I was going to release the shutter. I got exactly the kind of shot I was going for...Lots of contrast, super highlights to give it an extreme feel. I'm very happy with the photo as well as the set that it pertains to. Applied Sciences! (Once again)
I'm gonna post new photos! No, not right this minute but soon. Lemmme tell ya, I have been BUSIER than hell shooting in the last week. I have waaaay too many pics to handle all by myself, but that's good because that means there's a lot of great ones. (Thank God Laura's here to help me)I FINALLY applied everything I've learned! It was so worth it! Now that I really think about it......OH MY GOD, The pics are unbelievable! I'm still in disbelief that Lil ol' me took em. I know I've got a huge payoff on my hands because my neighbor that always sees me shoot and familiar with my work/style, totally would not believe they were my pics. He was asking me questions for about half an hour and still didn't quite get the overall methods used. I've been experimenting again and it's SO paid off! I always strive to top myself on every shoot from the one before it, and I went way further than I thought I could. The photos I wanted required methodical research and application beginning with rudimentary photographic principles about film speed to perhaps some of the most complex figures about exposure/compensation/color and lighting/perspective...etc etc. (major trial and error stuff) Then things like the intensity/hue/"kelvin" readings of light reflected from certain surfaces having particular shades of white/black to get the shots that I wanted. IT WAS INSANE because I literally re-learned photography in the last week! I threw away most misconceptions I had in my head, and had to learn anew through application. I practically lived out of my studio for 3 days rough drafting and studying concepts, and you know what I think, that I deserve a +60 Dragonslayer Sword of awesomeness for all that damn time served. (Oh and a chocolate YooHoo) LOL! OK well maybe it's not THAT serious, but those 3 days honestly felt like forever. God I love photography! Can't wait to show them to everyone, but like I said, not now. I have created a monster in my head....but I don't like the way he's posing so lemme move him around....one sec. ***FLASH*** LOL That's it for the moment......it's ZZZZZZZZZZZZ time. A total WTF moment.
So there I am looking through the pics on my cell phone, and I accidentally find some pics I had taken with my cell at the recent Marilyn Manson concert. I totally forgot I had taken a few shots there. This one came out the best. Not bad for a cell phone pic. (Bad color noise however) It's actually a really cool shot and figured I'd share it. Recent trip the Denver Zoo.
 Can ya tell Laura's having fun? Pretty self explanitory. We went to the zoo, took the camera and BAM!!!! We have ourselves some new pics. Obviously these were taken last weekend because it was beautiful then and COLD/SNOWY now. Stupid Colorado weather. It was a blast, we had all kinds of fun. Hope you all enjoy these! A Late Night Snack
 Megan came up with the concept for this one. She told me "I want to be a vampire and pull Laura's hair and bite her neck!" So naturally I obliged. Laura did most of the post-prod. Good job ladies! It was a bitch to get just the right amount of flash and still have a "dark" feel to the pic but I think it turned out pretty well. We went for a very pulp-y look with this one, hope you all like it! Commission entry
This isn't the experiment I've been mentioning (that is soon to come!) but I wanted to share this with everyone regardless. These shots were for a commission from a local jewelry business. The ones my client likes out of all of these will be used in their print publications. The company paid for 45 shots, 40 of the jewelry itself for their catalog and 5 shots with a model for their advertisements. I'm only posting the 5 model shots right now.
